The Intolerable Acts (1774)
The Intolerable act was a series of laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. One of these laws included the Boston Port Act that closed down the Boston Harbor until the colonist payed for the tea they destroyed. Another law in this series is the Massachusetts Government Act, which limited their self-government in the colony. Other laws passed were laws that allowed officials who were accused of crimes to be tried in England, and colonists were required to house the British soldiers. Housing the British soldiers meant that the soldiers were allowed to walk into anybody's home and do whatever they want and the colonists were supposed to accommodate them. This was not only imposed on Massachusetts buts alo other colonies which united them again Britian.

The Intolerable Acts (1774)
In the image to the right of this page, a political cartoon that represents how the British are forcing tea and imperial rule down America's throat. It expresses how America is reluctantly being patient while forcifly drinking bitter medicine. The medicine represnts that hard problems and struggles the country faced afer the Revolutionary War. The doctor can be seen as an authorative figure making Amercia faced these problems such as Britian. The political cartoon is used to epsress that even though the medicne is hard to take down it is very nessary to for the counrty to grow stronger. It highlighs how buliding a new nation is diffcult but possible.
